The National Inventory Controller is responsible for managing inventory reporting, controls, and stock integrity across the New Zealand business. This role combines deep inventory management expertise with financial analysis capability, providing insights that drive operational efficiency and support sound decision-making.

Working closely with Operations, Distribution, and Finance, the National Inventory Controller identifies improvement opportunities, minimises waste and write-offs, and ensures robust inventory controls are maintained. The role requires someone who can navigate complexity, distil information into clear insights, and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities include

  • Ensure all inventory-related controls, stocktakes, and resulting adjustments are accounted for accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and monitor adherence to inventory policies and procedures.
  • Work with third parties to manage external storage of stock.
  • Conduct investigations including root cause analysis and corrective actions, providing clear recommendations.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements related to inventory
  • Deliver timely, high-quality inventory information and reports in accordance with local and Head Office timetables.
  • Provide variance analysis and commentary on inventory-related P&L impacts including write-offs, wastage, and stock provisions.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reporting to support inventory performance monitoring.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for operational and finance stakeholders.
  • Partner with Distribution and Operations, providing inventory and freight reporting and analysis.
  • Proactively work with operational teams to identify opportunities to minimise write-offs and improve stock management.
  • Support financial close processes and forecast cycles for inventory-related costs.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for inventory management across the NZ business

You will bring to this role

  • University degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years' experience in inventory management, supply chain, or a finance/analyst role with exposure to inventory.
  • Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or food production is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles and best practice.
  • Experienced user of ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proficient in Power BI or similar data visualisation tools
