Reporting to the Production Manager, the Trainee Production Manager role is responsible for leading a safe and efficient operation during their relevant shift through strong communication and collaboration with wider key leaders. This role is integral in coaching and developing the wider operations team whilst delivering on key operational and people metrics

This is an 18 Month Fixed term opportunity

Morning Shift

Responsibilities include

  • Support the Production Manager in leading and coordinating team activities.
  • Learn how to manage day-to-day operations to ensure productivity, safety, and quality outcomes.
  • Assist with monitoring team performance and contribute to building a strong team culture.
  • Observe and assist in tracking production line performance including KPI’s, quality, yield, and downtime.
  • Participate in identifying variances and potential areas of improvement.
  • Learn how to interpret production data and metrics.
  • Support and promote a safe working environment by learning and applying workplace health and safety practices.
  • Assist in ensuring team compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to toolbox talks and safety observations under guidance
  • Support the delivery of high-quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Learn customer requirements and contribute to maintaining high service standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of production programs.
  • Gain exposure to production scheduling and planning processes.
  • Participate in ongoing training to develop skills in leadership, process management, and food manufacturing practices.
  • Take initiative in learning various aspects of the production process to build a well-rounded skill set.

You will bring to this role

  • Qualification in Food Science, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline (or working towards completion) OR Experience
  • Some exposure to or interest in food manufacturing or FMCG environments is advantageous.
  • Eagerness to develop leadership and operational management skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow into a leadership role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook).
