Job Description

Are you an experienced truck driver with a passion for animal welfare and a strong understanding of health and safety? Join our dedicated team as a Class 5 Live Bird Truck Driver, where you’ll play a crucial role in the safe and efficient delivery of birds to our Primary Processing Plant.

About the Role

As a key member of our transport operations, you'll be responsible for the timely and professional delivery of our birds. This role requires attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and a commitment to upholding animal welfare, biosecurity, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport birds from farms to the Primary Processing Plant safely and efficiently
  • Complete daily truck checks and ensure vehicles are clean, fuelled, and ready for use
  • Accurately complete and submit required paperwork
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities within the Catching team
  • Comply with all legal, environmental, and company policies and procedures
  • Uphold high standards of work, health, safety, hygiene, and biosecurity

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Class 5 Driver's Licence (required)
  • Desirable: 2–3 years of truck driving experience, specifically with semi-articulated trailers and Telehandlers.
  • Valid Forklift Licence
  • Experience in livestock handling and delivery is an advantage

Skills & Attributes:

  • Clean driving record
  • Strong time management skills
  • Good knowledge of trucks, trailers, and loading procedures (NZTA Code of Practice)
  • Solid understanding of animal welfare and health & safety standards
  • Mechanically minded with great attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Commitment to high standards of hygiene and biosecurity
