Job Description

Your opportunity to join our Project Management team at North Ryde!

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Project Manager to join our NPD & EPD team, with a dedicated focus on private label product development across our Retail portfolio. Reporting to the Project Management Team Lead, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of private label projects from concept through to launch, working closely with key retail customers and cross-functional internal teams to deliver projects on time, on brief, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is central to our customer partnership model and requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced FMCG environment, balances multiple projects simultaneously, and brings strong stakeholder management skills to every interaction.

Key responsibilities:

Project Management & Delivery:

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of private label NPD and EPD projects across Retail customers, ensuring alignment with customer briefs, commercial targets, and internal stage-gate processes
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, tracking timelines, milestones, risks, and dependencies to ensure on-time delivery
  • Coordinate cross-functional project activities across Product Development Centre, Operations, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Sales teams
  • Drive stage-gate discipline, preparing and presenting gate reviews to secure project progression and stakeholder sign-off
  • Proactively identify and escalate risks, developing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
  • Manage sample coordination and customer submission processes, ensuring products meet specification and quality requirements

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the primary project contact for assigned private label retail customers (e.g. Woolworths, Coles), building trusted relationships and ensuring clear, timely communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Category teams to translate customer requirements into actionable project briefs
  • Support customer range review preparation and Joint Business Plan development activities as required
  • Represent the project management function in cross-functional forums, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders

Portfolio & Pipeline Contribution:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records within the NPD pipeline, contributing to portfolio-level visibility and reporting
  • Provide regular project status updates to the Project Management Team Lead, flagging risks, resource constraints, and dependencies
  • Support portfolio prioritisation by providing insights on project complexity, timelines, and commercial impact
  • Partner with Portfolio Optimisation to ensure private label NPD activity aligns with broader range rationalisation and business strategy

Continuous Improvement & Governance:

  • Adhere to and champion project management standards, templates, and processes established by the Project Management Team Lead
  • Participate in post-project reviews, capturing key learnings and contributing to the continuous improvement of project delivery practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve speed-to-market, reduce project complexity, and enhance cross-functional ways of working
  • Contribute project performance data and insights to support reporting and efficiency initiatives

Key requirements:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in project management within an FMCG, food manufacturing, or related industry
  • Demonstrated experience managing new product development or existing product development projects, ideally including private label
  • Strong understanding of stage-gate project management methodologies and governance frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organisation and with external customer teams
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand and translate customer briefs into project deliverables
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and project management tools
