Inghams Primary Processing site at Burtons, SA are now recruiting a Control & Automation Technician, reporting to the Engineering Manager we are seeking an engineering professional educated or skilled in Automation Technology, Electrical Design, and Controls Integration.

Daily Tasks

  • Act as a trouble-shooter for automated equipment including Industrial networking, programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, automated processing equipment, weighing and sorting systems.
  • Troubleshooting and implementing software changes to control systems.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the OT network
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance shifts with respect to automated systems
  • Trains employees as needed in all areas of equipment repair and maintenance
  • Assists with the installation of new robotic systems and production equipment as needed
  • Identifies and diagnoses failures, replaces defective components, and performs troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, detailed drawings, and machine manuals
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC issues using ladder logic and text-based logic programs
  • Modify and rebuild manufacturing equipment to meet new machine requirements or production demands
  • Participate in LEAN and Continuous Improvement projects

You will bring to this role

  • Electrical license would be an advantage
  • Ability to conceive, design, install, start-up, and commission automation/control improvement
  • Good knowledge of networks systems, electrical, mechanical and control theory.
  • Understanding of PLC based automation systems.
  • Familiarity with Australian standards for machine safety.
  • Build, interpret, and verify project documents for installation and maintenance
  • Ability to use PLC's and PC controls, including using PLC for troubleshooting
  • Current understanding of PC'S and operating systems in industrial control applications
  • Experience in the application of servomotors and controls
  • Maintain accurate record for change management and departmental records
  • Demonstrated PLC, SCADA and HMI programming skills ,experience in machine commissioning.
  • Electrical circuit design and have a willingness to be “hands on” when required.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use AutoCAD would be an advantage..
  • Degree or equivalent experience in automation, or a related field.
