Inghams is seeking a Cloud Solution Architect to join our IT Infrastructure and Cloud Services team. As Australia's largest integrated poultry producer, our cloud platforms directly support critical manufacturing and supply chain operations across 30+ sites in Australia and New Zealand.

You'll lead the design of cloud solutions across AWS and Azure, translating business requirements into secure, scalable architectures that support our digital transformation. This role requires someone who can operate strategically while providing hands-on technical direction during complex implementations.

Our 24/7 manufacturing environment requires solutions that balance innovation with operational reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.

This is an initial 6-month contract with a view to permanency.

Key responsibilities:

Solution Architecture & Design:

• Lead the design of cloud-based solutions to support business initiatives and project delivery across AWS and Azure environments
• Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and cost-effective technical architectures
• Produce solution architecture artefacts including diagrams, design documents, and implementation guidance aligned with industry standards (C4 model, AWS Well-Architected Framework)
• Partner with delivery teams to ensure architectural intent is maintained through build and deployment phases
• Provide hands-on technical direction during complex implementations where required
• Design hybrid cloud solutions integrating AWS, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure (VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory)

Solution Review & Assurance:

• Review and validate existing architectures, project designs, and proposed technical solutions against enterprise standards
• Assess vendor proposals and third-party solutions for alignment with organisational security requirements and strategic direction
• Conduct architecture reviews for cloud infrastructure, applications, and integration patterns
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities with clear, actionable recommendations
• Support technical due diligence activities for new platforms, services, and products
• Validate compliance with security frameworks, disaster recovery requirements, and operational standards

Enterprise Architecture & Strategic Contribution:

• Contribute to enterprise architecture standards, cloud patterns, and reference architectures
• Assist in defining target-state cloud architectures and technology roadmaps aligned to business strategy
• Ensure solution designs align with enterprise principles, governance frameworks, and technology standards
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application development, and data teams to promote consistent architectural outcomes
• Identify opportunities for platform consolidation, standardisation, and cost optimisation
• Stay current with cloud technology trends and evaluate emerging services for organisational fit

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and platform engineers to shape solution outcomes
• Provide architectural guidance and mentorship across multiple concurrent initiatives
• Present and defend architectural decisions to technical and non-technical audiences
• Facilitate architecture workshops and design sessions with cross-functional teams
• Support knowledge sharing and capability uplift across engineering teams
• Partner with Cloud Architects and DevOps Engineers on infrastructure automation and deployment strategies

Key requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience in solution architecture, infrastructure design, or senior technical roles
• Strong hands-on AWS experience (4+ years) across compute, networking, storage, security, and database services
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services and hybrid cloud architectures
• Deep understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPN, firewalls)
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates)
• Strong knowledge of security principles, identity management, and compliance frameworks
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and enterprise infrastructure
• Operational Technology experience an advantage
• Demonstrated ability to lead architectural design across complex initiatives
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to balance trade-offs
• Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Experience producing architecture documentation and design artefacts
• Self-directed with ability to manage multiple priorities
