Your opportunity to join our team at North Ryde!

Inghams is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure and Cloud Services team.  As Australia's largest integrated poultry producer, our IT infrastructure directly supports critical manufacturing operations across 30+ sites in Australia and New Zealand.

You'll design, implement, and operate AWS cloud infrastructure with immediate focus on our server migration project.  This role requires someone who can take objectives and deliver solutions independently while collaborating across infrastructure and application teams.

Our 24/7 manufacturing environment has critical uptime requirements.  You'll need to understand operational constraints, change windows, and how infrastructure decisions impact production operations.

This is an initial 6-month contract with a view to permanency.

Key responsibilities:

AWS Infrastructure & DevOps Automation:

  • Design and implement AWS infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for cloud workloads
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure platform reliability and performance
  • Work closely with application and platform teams to improve deployment workflows and developer experience
  • Identify and deliver automation improvements to reduce manual effort and improve consistency
  • Optimise cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost
  • Contribute to development of platform standards and best practices
  • Manage infrastructure code repositories using Git and implement peer review workflows

Platform Operations & Migration Delivery:

  • Provide operational support for AWS services including compute, networking, storage, and managed services (EC2, FSx, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, RDS, Lambda)
  • Deliver AWS server migration project objectives independently
  • Troubleshoot cloud platform issues and conduct root cause analysis
  • Support integration between AWS and on-premises environments (VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory) during transition period
  • Participate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support (24/7 manufacturing environment)
  • Support patching, upgrades, and platform improvements across environments
  • Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks

Project Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support infrastructure projects from design through implementation
  • Partner with Cloud Architects, Security, and Infrastructure teams to deliver cloud solutions
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical outcomes
  • Collaborate on hybrid networking, connectivity, and identity solutions
  • Support project delivery through build, test, and release phases
  • Manage vendor relationships for cloud services and tooling

Governance, Security & Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure AWS environments align with organisational standards, security controls, and governance frameworks
  • Implement access controls, guardrails, and compliance requirements
  • Share knowledge and collaborate with infrastructure team members
  • Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement initiatives

Key requirements:

  • 4-6 years’ experience in Infrastructure or DevOps roles
  • Strong hands-on AWS experience (3+ years) with production environments
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Windows Server administration and PowerShell scripting
  • CI/CD pipeline concepts and implementation
  • Networking fundamentals (VPC, DNS, VPN, firewalls)
  • Monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch or similar)
  • Terraform experience is preferred
  • Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in operational environments with uptime requirements
  • Proven ability to document technical solutions and create runbooks
