Job Description

Your opportunity to join our team

A dedicated weekend Maintenance fitter working at our Primary Processing Plant in Murarrie, you will play an integral part in our Maintenance team, by providing high-quality maintenance and repairs to equipment throughout the plant, with a strong emphasis on preventative maintenance, to achieve acceptable production levels and a high standard in engineering support.

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter who enjoys autonomy, fast-paced problem solving, and maintaining critical production equipment in a leading poultry processing facility.

Weekend Roster: Friday to Monday (mix of 8hr and 12hr shifts)

Daily Task:

  • Attending to maintenance, repairs and breakdowns of production machinery in a timely manner
  • Respond to breakdowns and ensure safe, efficient restoration of production
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance tasks and identify defects to support long-term reliability
  • Ensure the execution of safety standards and quality assurance practices in all repairs and maintenance activities
  • Identifying and escalating Animal Welfare, Food Safety & Quality issues, hazards, and risks
  • Maintain documentation and work order updates within Maximo

You will bring to this role:

  • Australian recognised Mechanical Trades qualification
  • Experience in servicing, repairing, and maintaining various equipment, including but not limited to automated machinery, conveyors, and more, in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably primary food processing or food and beverage industry
  • Demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health and Safety practices
  • Experience in fault finding on hydraulic, pneumatic, pumps, conveyors, machinery rebuilds and general plant mechanical systems
  • Basic fabrication
  • Experience in breakdown as well as preventive maintenance
  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships,  communicate, and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders 
  • Proven skills in the areas of attention to detail, information processing, and problem solving with the ability to multitask
  • Experience with Meyn, Marel and Multivac equipment highly regarded
  • Experience with Maximo as a CMMS would be an advantage
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
