We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor to oversee operations in the Red Area, covering a PM roster. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will play a pivotal part in managing livestock/poultry operations while ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient production processes and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
As a natural leader with a passion for driving results and building high-performing teams, you will be responsible for the health, welfare, and condition of livestock/poultry throughout all stages of operations. You will guide and support a team of 50-100 employees to achieve production targets, maintain the highest standards of animal welfare and biosecurity, and continuously improve processes. Your ability to inspire and lead by example, combined with your commitment to livestock/poultry welfare, will be instrumental to the success of your team and the broader business.
This is a full-time, permanent position, based in Bolivar, South Australia, paying between $100,000-$115,000 per annum.
Key responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Select, train, and supervise a production team of 50-100 employees in the Red Area
- Provide hands-on support to the team, fostering collaboration and productivity
- Oversee training and development initiatives to build team capability and succession planning
- Inspire team members through leading by example and maintaining high performance standards
Livestock Management & Welfare:
- Monitor and maintain the health, welfare, and condition of livestock throughout operations
- Develop and oversee strategies to manage biosecurity and other risks
- Ensure strict compliance with animal welfare standards and protocols
- Organise farming operations and routines such as catching
- Coordinate the transportation of livestock to the facility
Operational Performance & Infrastructure:
- Monitor operational performance and implement improvements where necessary
- Direct and oversee general activities including the provision and maintenance of infrastructure
- Manage resources effectively to meet deadlines and achieve efficiency targets
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production processes
- Report on production outcomes and escalate issues as required
Data Management & Technology Systems:
- Oversee data collection and analysis using the in-house KWI app and farm technology systems
- Maintain and evaluate records of farming activities
- Monitor bird weight and plan production accordingly
- Utilize production systems to optimize operational efficiency
Business & Financial Management:
- Manage department success through effective budget management
- Maintain strong management of internal KPIs, performance metrics, and drive business outcomes
- Ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining quality standards
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, animal welfare, and food safety standards
- Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and wellbeing across all operations
- Promote and enforce workplace safety protocols and procedures
- Conduct regular safety and biosecurity assessments and address any identified risks
Quality & Standards:
- Maintain high standards of product quality throughout production processes
- Ensure adherence to food safety, quality management systems, and animal welfare standards
- Monitor and report on quality metrics and implement corrective actions as needed
Key requirements:
- Proven leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing or production environment
- Demonstrated ability to select, train, and supervise teams of 50-100 employees
- Experience in food production, meat processing, or livestock management is highly regarded
- Experience with budget management and KPI-driven operations
- Strong knowledge of safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare practices
- Experience with data collection systems and farm technology (experience with KWI app advantageous)
- Excellent communication and team-building skills
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- Computer literacy and experience with production management systems
- Understanding of production planning based on livestock conditions
