Job Description

The General Manager Strategy & Growth is a critical leadership role responsible for driving comprehensive strategic direction and executing strategic initiatives across Inghams' AU/NZ operations.  This position will partner with the ELT Growth leader to develop, implement and monitor enterprise-wide strategy while providing strategic intelligence and future-focused insights to inform decision-making across all business areas.

This role is instrumental in positioning Inghams as the market leader through data-driven strategy development, strategic program execution, and forward-looking insights that drive sustainable competitive advantage in the dynamic AU/NZ poultry market.

Key responsibilities:

Strategy Development & Design

  • Lead comprehensive business strategy development and facilitate enterprise-wide strategic planning processes aligned with Inghams' corporate vision and growth objectives
  • Design and implement strategic frameworks for evaluating opportunities and competitive positioning, and conduct portfolio analysis and resource allocation recommendations
  • Lead scenario planning and strategic risk assessment to prepare for multiple future states

Strategy Execution & Implementation

  • Drive end-to-end implementation of strategic initiatives across AU/NZ operations, creating governance frameworks and performance metrics to monitor strategic progress and impact
  • Lead change management processes to support strategic transformation initiatives and collaborate with operational teams to embed strategic priorities into business operations
  • Manage resource allocation and capability development and provide regular progress reporting and performance analysis to ELT Growth and leadership team

Future Insights & Intelligence

  • Lead strategic intelligence function to identify and analyse industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging opportunities and create future-state modelling and strategic foresight capabilities
  • Conduct macro-trend analysis across economic, social, technological, and environmental factors affecting the business
  • Lead consumer and market research initiatives to understand evolving preferences and behaviours

Strategic Growth Opportunities

  • Identify and evaluate strategic growth opportunities including M&A, partnerships, alliances, and organic expansion
  • Lead due diligence processes and develop business cases and investment proposals for growth initiatives
  • Support integration planning and execution for strategic partnerships and acquisitions and assess new market entry opportunities and expansion strategies

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Strategy, Economics, or related field (MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification highly regarded)
  • Minimum 10-12 years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, business development, or general management roles
  • Proven track record in FMCG, food manufacturing, agribusiness, or related industrial sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, execution, and business transformation
  • Strong background in strategic intelligence, market analysis, and business performance management
  • Experience with M&A, partnerships, or other strategic growth initiatives
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical capabilities with ability to synthesize complex information
  • Proven ability to lead and influence across matrix organizations without direct authority
  • Strong program management and strategic execution experience
  • Excellent change management and transformation leadership capabilities
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills with ability to engage at C-suite level
  • Experience building and leading high-performing strategy and execution teams
  • Advanced proficiency in strategic planning frameworks, business case development, and performance management
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data visualization, business intelligence, and strategic modelling
  • Deep understanding of competitive analysis, market research methodologies, and trend analysis
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment affecting the poultry/food industry in AU/NZ
  • Proficiency in program management tools and strategic execution methodologies
  • Experience with scenario planning, strategic foresight, and risk assessment techniques
