As the Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role within our Finance team, supporting the Senior Financial Accountant. This role is responsible for providing high quality, accurate and timely financial accounting support to ensure compliance, enhance decision making and achieve business goals. A key focus of this role will be to apply a challenging mindset with a view to improve and enhance processes and controls.
Key responsibilities:
Preparation of weekly/monthly/ad-hoc journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness of the P&L and Balance Sheet
Take ownership of Sales Admin and General cost centres, understanding area of responsibility may change from time to time in line with business requirements
Ensure all reconciliations are completed with supporting documents, and all action items are cleared monthly
Manage forecasting and budgeting for group expense in your area of responsibility
Conduct analysis of the general ledger on a monthly or ad-hoc basis, identifying variances against budget (or forecast) and last year and providing commentary explaining material variances.
Interpret, analyse and explain financial results to assist in building accountability and driving finance performance.
Assist with both internal and external audits, ensuring all information provided is checked for accuracy prior to submission and all information submitted is provided in full and on time
Assist with preparation of annual and half-yearly financial reports including updating all notes relating to your area of responsibility
Support the implementation and delivery of an effective control environment, through the cascade of group policies and procedures
Lead and drive process improvements across the business
Manage the fixed asset register
Key requirements:
Ability to work well in a fast paced and high pressure environment
Bachelor’s degree in finance / accounting
CPA/ CA (or studying towards) desirable but not mandatory
TM1 – Financial reporting
BPCS – Accounting ERP
Ability to analyses data and information and translate it into business insights
Understanding of stakeholder engagement
Ability to be able to frame a problem and influence an outcome
Intermediate Microsoft Excel
