Your Opportunity
Join our National Transport Team as a Regional Transport Manager, reporting into our GM Transport based at either our Truganina (VIC) or Prestons (NSW) Distribution Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to take strategic ownership of transport operations across Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania, covering our full supply chain from farm to fork.
You'll be responsible for managing relationships with approximately 40 carriers whilst ensuring efficient, on-time-in-full logistics across all our transport streams including Egg, Chick, Live Bird, Feed, Offal/Ingredients, Distribution, and Export operations.
Package: Competitive remuneration package including company car if required.
Location: Truganina, VIC or Prestons, NSW
Travel: Regular interstate travel required (minimum once every 3-4 weeks)
What You'll Be Doing
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement transportation strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver continuous improvement savings
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with our ~40 transport carriers, including basic rate negotiations and performance management
- Compliance Excellence: Ensure full compliance with Chain of Responsibility legislation and all relevant transport regulations
- Stakeholder Partnership: Work closely with farmers, site managers, sales teams, and suppliers to deliver seamless logistics solutions
- Performance Management: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure transport effectiveness and drive DIFOT improvements
- Budget Oversight: Monitor and support transport budgets, identifying cost savings opportunities and implementing cost control measures
- Team Influence: Provide guidance and coaching to site transport teams across multiple locations (no direct reports)
- Safety & Sustainability: Ensure all transportation activities meet our high standards for safety, biosecurity, and environmental responsibility
What You'll Bring
- Essential Experience: Logistics/transport management OR tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or related field
- Compliance Knowledge: Proven experience with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation and transport compliance requirements
- Communication Excellence: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets and delivering cost optimisation strategies
- Travel Flexibility: Comfortable with regular interstate travel and working across multiple sites weekly
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian transportation industry and regulations (FMCG experience highly valued)
- Relationship Focus: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships
- Adaptability: Proven track record of leading process improvements and adapting to changing business needs
- Team Player: Great attitude with commitment to doing what you say and working collaboratively
