Your opportunity to join us at our Murarrie primary processing plant!

The Site Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the site’s engineering and maintenance function to deliver improvements across maintenance performance and unplanned downtime whilst managing overall capital for the site.

We are looking for someone with demonstrable leadership experience who enjoys leading people and building high performing teams.  The successful applicant will also possess strong financial acumen, having previously managed large a P&L, along with experience working in a similar high-paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering team to ensure effective operation of the site to maximise efficiency and performance
  • Engage, motivate and develop the team ensuring capability of people to achieve individual, team and site objectives
  • Ensure safety and quality assurance practices are implemented into all repairs and maintenance activities and manage corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Drive asset management standards through implementation of robust maintenance standards on site
  • Manage planned and breakdown maintenance activities to reduce downtime through the use of maintenance plans, performance measurement tools and ongoing improvement plans
  • Develop, monitor and implement annual and 5-year capital plans for the replacement of end-of-life assets and improvement in plant reliability and performance
  • Manage, monitor and control expenditure within budgetary constraints, forecast capital expenditure and cashflow and seek approval for all out of scope spend
  • Ensure Inghams’ standards are communicated and met including animal welfare, health and safety, quality and environmental
  • Implement strategies to identify people issues, reduce staff turnover and ensure the labour cost base is the most productive, efficient and cost competitive for the industry

Key requirements:

  • Exceptional people leadership capability with previous experience successfully leading a large engineering and maintenance team, ideally in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to coach and develop others, provide direct feedback and monitor and measure performance
  • Strong analytical skills with effective P&L and budget management skills
  • Exposure to site services in ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, gas fired boilers and water heaters, advanced wastewater and trade waste treatment
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives including knowledge of 5S, Total Productive Manufacturing, LEAN/Six Sigma
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful maintenance practices and performance
  • Ability to implement cultural change through leadership, engagement and performance management
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate cross functionally to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders
  • A tertiary qualification in either a mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred
