An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, permanent HR Truck Driver/Hatchery Assistant to join our dynamic team at a leading chicken hatchery.

This dual-role position involves driving an HR truck to complete deliveries and assisting in the hatchery between deliveries. If you enjoy a diverse and hands-on role, this is the perfect opportunity for you to contribute to both the logistics and operational aspects of our hatchery.

Daily Tasks:

• Driving of company trucks ( Using Company HR Truck to deliver Day old Chicks to Farms )
• Complying with all relevant company WHS, Quality, Bio-Security and Welfare guidelines
• Performing practical straightforward tasks, using well established methods and practices
• Working under supervision and guidance ( Must be able to work unsupervised, accept responsibility and accountability)
• Loading and packing and securing Chicks onto the truck for delivery
• Processing and inspecting eggs and chicken safely and systematically, according to quality specification
• Completing manual handling duties – lifting, pulling, pushing, bending and reaching
• Being an active, respectful team member that is reliable and honours work commitments
• Get involved with safety, follow the safety rules, speak up and be mindful of risks
• Cleaning duties and maintaining a clean work space
• Storing and maintaining materials, equipment and tools
• Identifying and escalating Animal Welfare, Food Safety & Quality issues and hazards
• Take personal responsibility to ensure livestock is treated humanely by self and other
• Abiding by NHVL while operating a company vehicle.

You will bring to this role:

• Driving a company truck (Minimum unrestricted HR Licence and full Drivers Licence)
• Flexibility to assist with hatchery operations during delivery downtime.
• Must be able to Record, Document and complete all relevant Vehicle checks, log books.
• Capability to perform repetitious tasks efficiently, correctly and systematically in accordance with policies and standards
• Ability to understand, correctly interpret and follow instructions, procedures and information
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment
• To be able to successfully communicate written and verbally
• A record showing work commitment, reliability and motivation
• Ability to respond calmly and methodically when faced with obstacles
• Good level of fitness is required as you will manually handle up to 5kg- 15kg 

Due to quarantine restrictions, we cannot accept applications from the following:

• If you regularly come into contact with pigs or birds
• If have anyone living in the same residence as you, work in other poultry or pig operations

IMPORTANT: All employees handling live birds must have had or be prepared to have a recent flu vaccination, and be able to provide evidence of this, in order to protect the health and safety of our employees from the adverse effects of an outbreak of avian influenza.
