We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Hatchery Assistant to join our team at Mt Alford Hatchery in a casual position. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for supporting hatchery operations, ensuring animal welfare, and contributing to the production of high-quality chicks.

No prior experience? No worries! Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in poultry production while enjoying flexible work arrangements.

Daily Tasks

• Assist in egg handling, setting, and transferring to incubators
• Monitor and maintain optimal hatchery conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.)
• Handle chicks safely and humanely during processing and vaccination
• Clean and sanitise hatchery equipment and work areas to maintain hygiene standards
• Conduct regular quality checks and report any issues to supervisors
• Accurately complete records and documentation
• Follow biosecurity and animal welfare protocols
