We are currently seeking a hard, motivated, reliable individual, to join or Hatchery team helping to ensure there is a smooth operation during the day.

As a Hatchery Assistant, your work will cover all aspects of the daily hatchery process throughout the incubation cycle, primarily involving chick counting, quality assessment, facility cleaning, egg transfers, and various other operational duties

Key Responsibilities

•   Count and record hatch numbers accurately

•   Conduct thorough chick quality assessments, identifying healthy and compromised chicks

•   Transfer eggs between incubators, hatchers, and processing areas as needed

•   Clean and sanitize hatchery equipment, incubators, and work areas regularly

•   Maintain detailed records of hatch rates, times, etc.

•   Follow strict biosecurity protocols to prevent disease transmission

•   Handle chicks gently during counting, sorting, and transfer processes

•   Perform routine equipment maintenance and report any malfunctions

•   Support all processing procedures as required

 You Will Bring to This Role 

• No prior experience needed - training provided
• No contact with birds, poultry, or pigs (biosecurity requirement)
• Understanding of animal husbandry practices, particularly in poultry
• Ability to follow strict biosecurity protocols and health & safety regulations
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
• Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual handling tasks and willing to undergo drug and alcohol screening
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
• Familiarity with basic maintenance of hatchery equipment and facilities
