Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Inghams' Product Development Growth Team.  This role supports new product development (NPD), existing product development (EPD) and specification reviews across our integrated portfolio — Primary, Value Enhancement (VE), Further Processed Poultry (FPP), Branded, and New Innovations — with exposure across a variety of teams and functions.

This position can be based at our Lisarow OR Prestons Product Development Centre.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support NPD and EPD projects across Inghams Own Brand and Customer Portfolios
  • Lead projects from bench top through plant trials to commercialisation, including development, sourcing, costing and launch
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Sales, Project Management, and Continuous Improvement
  • Support volume growth initiatives with major and emerging customers
  • Analyse sensory results, trial data, sensory evaluations, and shelf-life studies
  • Ensure all products meet Inghams' Always Good profile and quality standards
  • Interstate travel to Inghams manufacturing sites for trials, launches and customer visits
  • Support specification reviews for Inghams Own Brand and Customer Portfolio
  • Maintain accurate product specifications and coordinate updates across the Inghams Specification network
  • Ensure specification data integrity across Primary, VE, and FPP product lines
  • Liaise with regulatory and QA teams on specification compliance
  • Support customer specification discussions and technical documentation, including QAS
  • Participate in cross-site specification standardisation initiatives and support Audit requirements
  • Work closely with Operations, Sales, and Project Management teams across multiple sites
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives through product optimisation and cost reduction
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all development activities and outcomes
  • Support regulatory compliance requirements throughout the development process

Key requirements:

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline
  • 2-3 years’ experience in food product development preferred; new graduates and internal candidates welcome
  • Understanding of HACCP, food safety, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, self-initiate, and meet deadlines
  • Strong cross-functional communicator; confident with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Poultry or meat processing experience; retail specs, specification systems, PM tools
