Your opportunity to join us at Thomastown

We are seeking a Maintenance Trade Assistant with mechanical or electrical background at our Further Processing site in Thomastown. The Maintenance Trade Assistant plays a vital supporting role within the maintenance function, contributing to the reliability, safety, and compliance of site operations. This position takes hands-on ownership of wastewater treatment activities, maintenance stores support, and day-to-day asset care - working closely with tradespeople, the stores team, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time role that will operate over our morning shift 6am – 2.30pm
  • Flexibility required for early starts and weekend work as needed

Daily Tasks:

  • Take ownership of all wastewater treatment plant activities, including daily operations and compliance checks.
  • Conduct weekly site water meter readings and execute associated preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist the Maintenance Stores person with stock cycle counts, parts management, parts labelling, and consumable stocktakes.
  • Support purchasing activities including raising purchase requisitions, receiving parts, and obtaining supplier quotes.
  • Assist tradespersons during preventive maintenance activities, breakdowns, equipment setups, overhauls, and minor installations.
  • Take ownership of daily cleaning, integrity checks, and performance validation of equipment including Revo drums.
  • Conduct routine inspections of roof spaces and plant rooms, maintaining high housekeeping standards in these areas.
  • Ensure maintenance areas are clean, safe, and well-organised at all times.
  • Apply safety standards and quality assurance practices across all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Identify and escalate Animal Welfare, Food Safety & Quality issues, hazards, and risks in a timely manner.

You will bring to this role:

  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health & Safety practices.
  • Current forklift licence, scissor lift ticket, and White Card (Construction Induction).
  • Sound interpersonal skills - able to communicate and collaborate effectively with maintenance, production, QA, and safety stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and grow within the role and the broader maintenance function.
  • Competency in basic computer use, including work order and requisition systems.
