Purchasing Officer
Our Further Processing Plant in Edinburgh Parks has an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Officer to join our Warehouse and Inventory team. In this key role, you'll take ownership of procurement and inventory management activities that directly support production planning and site performance.
We're looking for someone with a solid background in procurement or supply chain, ideally in a manufacturing or logistics environment. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and local suppliers to ensure the right materials are available at the right time, keeping our operation running smoothly.
Your attention to detail, commercial awareness, and continuous improvement mindset will be key to your success in this role.
Hours of work:
Monday to Friday, standard business hours. Some flexibility may be required to support operational needs.

Daily Tasks:
- Place and manage purchase orders with local suppliers, ensuring accuracy, timely execution, and alignment with approved budgets and delegations
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively follow up on late or at-risk orders
- Work with warehousing and planning teams to help manage inventory levels in line with agreed targets, identifying risks and escalating where required
- Maintain accurate master data to support MRP and planning processes
- Support safety stock reviews, contributing data-driven recommendations to optimise stock holdings
- Manage in-house company software for accounts and procurement activities, ensuring data integrity and compliance
- Manage supplier accounts in collaboration with our accounts team, ensuring accurate records and timely reconciliation
- Review invoices for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with vendors or accounts payable
What you’ll bring to this role:
- 3+ years' experience in a procurement, inventory or supply chain role, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of purchasing principles, procurement best practices, and supplier management
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify optimisation opportunities
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail — a must-have for managing data accuracy across purchasing and inventory processes
- Positive, can-do attitude with the drive to take ownership and get things done
- Comfortable working with ERP/MRP systems and in-house business software
